Otoliths

There's a new Issue of Otoliths coming. It goes live on the 1st of August. My procedural sequence pillaging the oeuvre of Samuel Beckett is in there, along with other great stuff. Mark Young does a fantastic job.
Check out the old stuff, order print copies, buy books.

I've just added a link to Karl Young's Light and Dust anthology, which I discoved over at Jerome Rothenberg's Poems and Poetics. Its well worth exploring, as I am doing at the moment, and Jerome has a wonderful essay on anthologising in his post. Check it out.

In Memoriam Robin Blaser

Just saw over at Charles Bernstein's Weblog: Robin Blaser died this morning.

I am sad.

He is/was one of my favorite poets, though I only discovered his work recently.

I don't know what else to say.

My tribute follows:

***

the O in NO-man
____________ eros,
____________homunculus,
____________honest
_________________-y
know
____ ledge circle whole
slip ping through gale

and insect wings,

cirrus and nimbus

O______________tree
O______________sun beam

More Links.

This is a fascinating discussion. Apparently young poets are ignorant. Read on.

Collages

To continue the joint themes of collages and linking to cool stuff I find elsewhere (I'm working on another real post at the moment, but it may take a while. I'm busy doing real stuff) here are some collages by Ted Berrigan and Alice Notley over at Pierre Joris' place. Great work by two great poets.

Open Mic Poetry

for those of you who are in Christchurch, there is this coming up this week (Info curtesy of my inbox):

Literary journal Catalyst hosts the longest continuously running poetry/spoken word night in Christchurch. First WEDNESDAY of EVERY month, all welcome to read, perform or listen. Entry is FREE.

Catalyst Poetry Open Mic Night
Wednesday 6th May, 8pm
Al's Bar, 31 Dundas St
Christchurch

It's pretty informal, we get all sorts (I'm welcome, for one) - Hippie beatnik types, slam-style performance pieces, poems about pets, hard-hitting feminest rants, Oulipo procedurals, Lang-po.... I'm waiting for some flarf, or manipulated sound-works....... come one come all.....
